
Turmeric, ginger and cinnamon tea
This anti-inflammatory tea is extremely healthy, easy to make and also inexpensive.
Benefits of this tea:
All three spices in this tea have been used for thousands of years to reduce inflammation, enhance digestion and circulation and strengthen the immune system. They are also a good source of antioxidants, which protect our cells against free radical damage. In fact, Curcumin, the active compound in Turmeric, has higher antioxidant levels than both Vitamin C and E.
There is a large body of research now suggesting that cultures who use these spices on a daily basis have the lowest rates of cognitive decline in the world.
Ingredients:
Serves 1
- Ground cinnamon
- Ground ginger
- Ground turmeric
- Freshly squeezed lemon juice to taste
You should be able to pick up these ingredients in any local health shop.
Method:
- Add 1/4 -1/2 teaspoon of each spice to a cup of just boiled water.
- Cover, and leave to stand for 10 minutes, this allows the active constituents to be extracted from the spices.
- You may choose to make a jar of the mixture ready so all you have to do is add 1-2 tsp to hot water.
